German zoos

About a hundred years or so ago, German biologists and scientists were pretty busy in my part of the world. In fact, Matschie’s tree kangaroo was named after the German zoologist Paul Matschie. And then there’s the Bismarck Sea just north of where I live.

So you’d think tree kangaroos might be pretty popular in German zoos. Well, unfortunately not. I’ve only managed to find one zoo (so far) that holds tree kangaroos. Guess which species? Matschie’s of course.
